Summary: The FBI has cleared Brad Pitt of child abuse charges.
This Thanksgiving, Brad Pitt reportedly will not be able to gobble turkey with his six kids, but there was some good news for the movie star who is currently embroiled in a divorce battle with Angelina Jolie. On Tuesday, the FBI said that they had cleared him of child abuse allegations that stemmed from an incident on the movie stars’ private jet.
In late September, TMZ said that Pitt and Jolie were on a private jet with their children when Pitt allegedly got wasted and began to verbally and physically abuse his kids. Sources told TMZ that someone on the plane or tarmac notified the authorities of his behavior and he was soon investigated by the FBI and L.A. County Dept. of Children and Family Services. It was said that Jolie filed for divorce five days later because of this incident.
“In response to allegations made following a flight within the special aircraft jurisdiction of the United States which landed in Los Angeles carrying Mr. Brad Pitt and his children, the FBI has conducted a review of the circumstances and will not pursue further investigation,” Laura Eimiller, a spokeswoman for the FBI’s Los Angeles field office, told The Huffington Post.
Pitt, 52, and Jolie, 41, have been together since 2005, and they married in 2014. The high-profile couple have six children together, ages 8 to 15. When she filed for divorce, she cited irreconcilable differences and said the divorce was necessary for the “health of her family.”
Jolie is being represented by attorneys, Bert Fields, Pierce O’Donnell, and Laura Wasser. Wasser is well-known for her speciality with celebrity divorces, and she represented Jolie in her divorce from Billy Bob Thornton.
Pitt is rumored be intimidated by Jolie’s legal team, and it is said the divorce is taking an emotional toll of him as Jolie is seeking custody of their children. Pitt is represented by attorney Lance Spiegel.
The couple are reportedly worth $400 million in assets that include property around the world. However, it was reported that the two had signed an ironclad prenuptial agreement, and the main thing at stake for the pair is who gets the kids.
