The following are the most shocking divorce announcements of the year.

Angelina Jolie & Brad Pitt

In September, Angelina Jolie jolted the world when she ended the fantasy of Mr. and Mrs. Smith. She filed for divorce from her 2004 co-star, Brad Pitt, and the two are now embattled in a bitter war for their six children: Shiloh, Knox, Vivienne, Pax, Maddox, and Zahara. It is reported that their $400 million empire has already been divided by an ironclad prenuptial agreement, so the only thing at stake for the two equally powerful stars is their family life.

Both parties are represented by well-known celeb legal teams. Jolie is represented by Bert Fields, Pierce O’Donnell, and Laura Wasser. Pitt has hired attorney Lance Spiegel.

Amber Heard & Johnny Depp

Johnny Depp devastated long-time fans when he split from model Vanessa Paradis, the mother of his children and his partner for 14-years. Like a typical Hollywood dude, he ran into the arms of a woman over 20 years his junior, Amber Heard; and they married in February 2015. After 15 months of marriage, Heard filed for divorce, claiming Depp physically abused her. After a series of public mudslinging, the two finally settled for $7 million, which Heard said she plans to donate to charity.

Naya Rivera & Ryan Dorsey

Glee star Naya Rivera was in a high-profile relationship with rapper Big Sean before she immediately rebounded with unknown actor, Ryan Dorsey. After only a few months of dating, the two were married in Mexico. Their marriage lasted for two years, and they had a child before they separated in November.

Kaley Cuoco & Ryan Sweeting

Kaley Cuoco is best known for her starring role in CBS’s The Big Bang Theory and getting paid a million an episode on that show. Her now ex-husband Ryan Sweeting was best known for…being Kaley’s husband. The two were married for 21 months before their divorce was finalized this year. Rumors circulated that the high-paid actress dumped the tennis player because he was addicted to prescription drugs. She reportedly had her beau sign a prenuptial agreement. Now that’s nerd-level smart.

Drew Barrymore & Will Kopelman

Drew Barrymore is the queen of sweet romantic comedies, so it was a big disappointment to fans when her real-life love story didn’t have a happy ending. She met Will Kopelman in 2011, and they were married on June 2, 2012. They announced their intention to divorce five years later on April 2, 2016. This is Barrymore’s second divorce.

Khloe Kardashian & Lamar Odom

Anyone who keeps up with the Kardashians knows that Khloe Kardashian and basketball player Lamar Odom have a tumultuous relationship. After they were married in 2009 (after only one month of dating), Kardashian filed for divorce in 2013. However, she changed her mind after Lamar almost died from a drug overdose while getting wild at a Las Vegas brothel, and it appeared as if the near-death experience may have resurrected their love back to life. Unfortunately, the duo weren’t meant to be, and she refiled for divorce in May of 2016.

Jennifer Meyer & Tobey Maguire

Hollywood royalty Jennifer Meyer met Spiderman actor Tobey Maguire in 2003 on the set of the horse racing film, Seabiscuit. They dated shortly after and were married in 2007. The pair have two children, Ruby and Otis; and they announced their breakup on October 18, 2016.
