Summary: Actor T.J. Miller has been sued for allegedly assaulting his private driver.
After getting high on Whip-Its, Silicon Valley star T.J. Miller allegedly beat up his private driver, according to a new lawsuit. The bizarre incident happened earlier this month, and it resulted in Miller’s arrest. On New Year’s Eve, TMZ reported that the driver had filed a lawsuit, seeking money for his injuries.
Miller stars on HBO’s hit show as well as this month’s feature film, Office Christmas Party. On December 8, the comedic actor called an Uber to pick him up from GQ’s Men of the Year party in Hollywood, and his driver Wilson Deon Thomas III said that Miller was inhaling nitrous oxide (laughing gas) out of small metal containers called “Whip-Its.” The drug is supposed to give its users a euphoric high, but apparently, it made Miller angry, according to Thomas.
Thomas said that he was hired to drive Miller, but Miller started to argue with him in the car about politics. Democrat Miller had previously been outspoken with his support of Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton and his disdain for Trump. According to the lawsuit, Miller repeatedly complained about how much money he lost supporting Clinton.
The night got worse for Thomas when Miller allegedly accused the driver of being a Trump fan. That’s when they started to argue. Thomas said that when the car finally pulled up to Miller’s home, Miller hit Thomas on the head while the vehicle was still in motion.
Thomas said the violent action was so startling that he slammed on the brakes, which reportedly gave him whiplash. He immediately called the cops, who arrested Miller for assault. Because Thomas had no visible injuries, the altercation was he said/he said; but sources say that Miller appeared visibly intoxicated. According to The Daily Mail, he will appear in court at a later date.
The driver is seeking medical expenses and damages. Miller and his attorney have already addressed the lawsuit, calling it “bogus.”
“From his first opportunity he has attempted to extort my client TJ Miller by creating a fictitious set of facts and threatening to go public unless he received money. Mr. Thomas is no stranger to the legal system and is all too familiar with filing bogus lawsuits to extort people,” Miller’s lawyer said.
This is not the first time that actors of Silicon Valley have gotten into fights because of Donald Trump. Miller’s costar Kumail Nanjiani said that he and costar Thomas Middleditch were accosted by Trump supporters at a Los Angeles hipster bar in November, following the election.
