Summary: A privacy law attorney took his actions of love too far for his ex-girlfriend, resulting in her calling for harassment and stalking charges.
Lawyer Blaze Waleski was sending flowers, bubbly, and candy to the woman he loved. Unfortunately for Waleski, Victoria’s Secret executive Barbara Jo Gray did not return his love and found his actions to be too much. Gray, who is the Vice President of Design and Marketing, broke up with him in April.
Waleski, who specializes in privacy law at Moses & Singer, was not willing to give up on the relationship and was pulling out all the stops to try to win her back. These attempts forced her to file criminal harassment and stalking charges against him.
Waleski formerly practiced with Sullivan & Cromwell. He discovered where she was staying during a jaunt to France and bombarded her room with “flowers, candy, cookies, and champagne.” During the period April to July, he also sent her dozens of love letters, cards, and gifts. He was also noted as showing up at her place of work – the Manhattan headquarters of Victoria’s Secret – to try to drop off gifts in person.
His love notes were often of legal-brief-length with one even hitting 81-pages long, according to the complaint. In June Gray reiterated her desire to be done with him and their relationship but it only seemed to recharge his efforts to get her back. He left her 19 voicemails and 10 emails in one day.
The Rutgers Law School graduate may win an A for effort but Gray ended up feeling threatened by his advances. When she attended her brother’s wedding in Catalina, California in July, Waleski arrived on the same weekend. He claims the trip was planned while the couple was still dating so with the relationship over he brought his teenage daughter instead.
His defense attorney James Kousouros said, “My client did nothing more than communicate with a woman whom he truly loved, and a woman who repeatedly professed her love for him during the period in question.”
