Johnny Depp is getting closer and closer to severing ties with Amber Heard. According to TMZ, the couple had their request for entry of dissolution judgment granted on Friday, which means that their divorce is finalized and that they can divide their assets.
“We are all pleased to put this unpleasant chapter in Mr. Depp and his family’s lives behind them,” Depp’s divorce lawyer Laura Wasser told TMZ.
“It is a great day. All Amber wanted was a divorce and now she has it. In the words of Gerald Ford, ‘Our long national nightmare is over,’ ” Heard’s attorney Pierce O’Donnell said to PEOPLE.
In May, Heard shocked the public when she not only filed for divorce from Depp but accused the beloved movie star of domestic abuse. Then, what swiftly followed was a public he said-she said; their respective camps trashing the other side. In August, the pair finally settled their marriage dissolution for $7 million. According to TMZ, Depp will pay Heard her $7 million settlement in installments. So far, he has paid $200,000, and he will pay $1 million a month for five months, starting in February. Then he is scheduled to pay $500,000 more in August and a final $2.3 million in February 2018.
In addition to her money, Heard will get to keep their dogs, Pistol and Boo, along with a horse named Arrow. She will also get their Ford Mustang.
Depp, on the other hand, will get to keep all of his global properties along with 42 vehicles, which includes cars, motorcycles, and boats.
