Judge Grants Paula Patton Restraining Order Against Robin Thicke

Summary: A judge has granted actress Paula Patton a temporary restraining order against singer Robin Thicke.

After accused child abuser Robin Thicke showed up unannounced at the home of his ex-wife’s mother, a judge granted the ex a restraining order in their ongoing custody battle.

On Thursday, Los Angeles Judge Colin Leis ordered Thicke to leave his ex-wife Paula Patton alone. However, he is allowed to still visit their son Julian, 6, but only during monitored visits.

The couple’s once seemingly amicable breakup soured earlier this year when Patton filed for sole custody of Julian after the boy told school officials that Thicke had spanked and punched him multiple times. This accusation resulted in the school reporting Thicke to the Los Angeles County Department of Child and Family Services. The family welfare department subsequently opened a case, and Thicke responded that he did spank his child but not in an illegal way.

Thicke’s attorney Larry Ginsberg said that there was no basis for the restraining order and that Patton had filed it as retaliation against Thicke because her request for sole custody was denied earlier this month.

In Patton’s restraining order request, she stated that Thicke had abused her during their marriage, which ended in March 2015 after rumors that Thicke cheated. She claimed that during a fight in April of 2013, Thicke had pushed her to the ground and kicked her. She also said that he had been unfaithful numerous times and had substance abuse problems.

Patton said that she wanted the restraining order following an incident on January 19. Thicke allegedly showed up at her mother’s house while their son was being interview by social workers. Patton said that he refused to leave and that the family was forced to call the police.

Thicke’s legal team told USA Today that, “[Patton] is trying to take a second bite at the apple.”
