Summary: A man says that an Uber glitch allowed his wife to monitor his travels and deduct that he was sneaking around.
It was an affair he didn’t want to remember. Unfortunately, Uber exposed him, and now he’s suing the often sued transportation company for $45 million.
The plaintiff, a French businessman, said that a glitch in Uber’s app allowed his wife to monitor his infidelity trips, which ultimately allowed her to figure out he was a big fat cheater. According to Le Figargo, the bug sent his wife notifications about his movements as well as details such as where he was going.
The man had used his wife’s phone to log into the app one time, and he said that even though he logged out, the notifications to his wife were still sent. He is seeking $45 million in damages from Uber, and he said his loss of privacy cost him his marriage. The glitch appears to only affect iPhone users, so Andoid owners can creep around safely, according to The Local.
The case is expected to go to court later this month. Uber declined to comment on the story, stating that they could not speak about pending litigation.
