After practicing for 35 years, a Brentwood area attorney had his license disbarred after discovering thousands in missing funds. The California State Bar announced their decision to disbar Walter Lee Davis after the allegations over misappropriation of thousands of dollars that should have gone to his clients.
Davis was formally accused of violating the state’s rules of professional conduct and the business and professions code 13 times. The charges that the Davis lied to two clients, taking roughly $11,000 that rightfully belonged to the clients. An additional $47,000 also appears to be missing after a client filed a complaint. State officials are still investigating the complaint.
Davis had an office in Brentwood. His phone line has been disconnected. He failed to show up to a state bar hearing in January 2016, placing his case into default. State officials recommended that his license be revoked and was finalized by the end of 2016.
Before these allegations surfaced, Davis had a history of being a discipline-free lawyer. A Contra Costa District Attorney spokeswoman said no criminal charges have been filed yet.
