Summary: Due to a technicality, Robin Thicke’s lead attorney was dismissed from his custody case against ex-wife Paula Patton.
Thanks to ex-wife Paula Patton, Robin Thicke has lost the main family lawyer fighting for him in their custody battle. TMZ reports that Patton had Thicke’s attorney Larry Ginsberg removed from the case over a technicality.
Actress Patton argued that a lawyer who once worked at a law firm that previously represented her was now employed at Ginsberg’s firm, Harris Ginsberg. Larry Ginsberg said that this attorney had no involvement with the pair’s bitter custody battle, but a judge ruled there was risk this attorney could blab details to Ginsberg so he was removed from the case.
Luckily for Thicke, 39, he has plenty of other legal representation options, and he still is a client of other law firms.
Patton and Thicke were high school sweethearts who wed in 2005. In 2014, the two split amidst rumors that Thicke was unfaithful. They have one child together, Julian, 6.
The couple seemed to split amicablably, but things soured earlier this year when Patton filed for sole custody of Julian after the boy told school officials that Thicke had spanked and punched him multiple times. Patton sought and was granted a restraining order against Thicke in January because of the abuse allegations.
The angry exes are due back in court February 24.
