Family of Man Who Died in Demi Moore’s Pool Files Wrongful Death Lawsuit

Summary: The family of a man who died in Demi Moore’s swimming pool has alleged that the death was not an accident.

In 2015, a 21-year-old man drowned in Demi Moore’s swimming pool during a party. Now the family of the victim is suing Moore’s associates, whom they say are responsible for his death.

Edenilson Valle attended a small party at Moore’s home when the actress was out of the country, and his family filed a $25,000 wrongful death lawsuit on Tuesday against the party’s hosts, Bessy Wong and Lenny Hernandez. Valle’s family also named homeowner Tree House Trust as a defendant but did not name Moore in the lawsuit.

Jorge and Maria Valle said that their son had told partygoers that he could not swim but entered the pool voluntarily anyway. They claim that the party hosts created a “dangerous environment” by serving alcohol at their five or six person gathering, and that the hosts failed to tell their son how deep the pool was.

Additionally, the Valles said that there were other dangerous elements around the pool area such as slippery rocks and a lack of depth markers.

When the Los Angeles Police Department found Valle’s body on July 19, 2015, they determined that the death was an accident and did not suspect foul play. His body had been underwater for a reported 10 to 15 minutes before it was pulled out by authorities.

Moore issued a statement after Edenilson’s passing that the drowning was a tragedy.

“I was out of the country traveling to meet my daughters for a birthday celebration when I got the devastating news,” Moore said. “The loss of a child is an unthinkable tragedy and my heart goes out to this young man’s family and friends.”
