Vatican Slammed with Accusations of Orgies, Porn and Prostitution

Summary: After recovering from allegations of “playboy priests” just three years ago, the Catholic Church has to deal with new allegations of priests that have acted inappropriately.

Pope Francis has had a lot of repairing to do of the Catholic Church. Allegations of priest misconduct run rampant but things had seemed to improve over the past few years. Now accusations of sex orgies, porn videos, and prostitution involving Catholic priests are exploding out of Italy.

A Naples priest was suspended from the parish of Santa Maria degli Angeli for allegedly holding gay orgies and using the Internet to recruit paid sex partners. The allegations against Rev. Mario D’Orlando were introduced in an anonymous letter sent to the Naples bishop. D’Orlando denied the charges to the city’s archbishop Cardinal Crescenzio Sepe but a formal inquiry is still being conducted.

Other allegations arose from the city of Padua concerning the 48-year-old Rev. Andrea Contin. He has been accused of having 30 lovers, some of whom he took to a swingers’ resort in France. He is facing defrocking and judicial proceedings.

Contin was removed from the parish, San Lazzaro, when three women came forward in December with complaints against him. Bishop Claudio Cipolla of Padua said, “I am incredulous and pained by the accusations. This is unacceptable behavior for a priest, a Christian and even for a man.”

One of the women claims to have been his lover for over three years. She describes a man that carries sex toys and bondage equipment, prostitutes his lovers on wife-swapping websites and invites other priests to sex parties.

Cipolla added, “Even if, at the end of this affair, there are no legal consequences, we have a duty by canon law to take disciplinary action.”

Do you think it is normal for there to be major sins committed by the priests? Tell us in the comments below.
