Summary: A southeast Michigan probate attorney was arrested for the sexual assault of an incapacitated woman.
Farmington Hills attorney Daniel S. Carlson is in big trouble. The 33-year-old from southeast Michigan was arrested Wednesday for allegedly raping an incapacitated woman.
Carlson has been charged with third-degree criminal sexual conduct and felony obstruction of justice. He was arrested at a home in Farmington Hills, according to the Mecosta County Sheriff’s Office. The police claim he sexually assaulted in incapacitated woman last October and then failed to comply with a court-ordered search warrant.
He was arraigned in the 77th District Court for both felony charges. He will be held on $175,000 bail.
It is unknown what the nature of the incapacitation was.
Carlson has been practicing law for nine years. He is listed as an estate planning attorney at Shifman & Carlson, P.C. but has since been removed from their website. He also practices in business law, municipal law, probate, and real estate law. He earned his J.D. from Ave Maria School of Law and his B.A. from Kalamazoo College. He is a member of the Michigan State Bar, Oakland County Bar Association, Michigan Association of Municipal Attorneys, and the Federal Bar Association.
