Summary: A clothing competitor alleges Ivanka Trump unfairly uses her father’s connections to get a leg up in the fashion industry.

First daughter Ivanka Trump is selling more shoes and accessories than ever before, and one of her competitors is crying foul. She’s now facing a lawsuit from one of her rival companies, whom her presidential father would most likely tweet was a big ol’ loser.

Fashion company, Modern Appealing Clothing, filed a lawsuit against President Donald Trump’s favorite daughter, stating that she got an “unfair” boost in sales from her growing role in her father’s administration. The San Francisco-based company said that her sales boosted by a whopping several hundred percent, and it stated that unethical endorsements from White House counsel Kellyanne Conway helped Ivanka step on her competition.

In February, Conway appeared on FOX News to admonish Nordstrom’s, a department store chain that had dropped Ivanka’s clothing line allegedly due to poor sales. It is unclear what that appearance actually did for Ivanka’s line, but Modern Appealing seems to think it did a lot.

According to TMZ, Modern Appealing said in its class action lawsuit that the president is “exploiting the power and prestige of the White House” to shell for his daughter’s company. The company wants Ivanka to stop using her political connections to fill her wallet.

So how strong is this case? USA Today spoke to John Coffee of Columbia Law School, who said that Modern Appealing’s arguments about unfair competition could apply to Donald Trump but not his daughter.

“This is a lawsuit against political correctness,” Coffee said. “I’m all for being a pain in the butt for President Trump. But I’ve got to tell you, as a law professor, the case isn’t very strong.”
