Summary: A Florida woman has accused the Cash Me Outside Girl of giving her a beatdown in February.
For anyone who has social media, you’ve probably heard about the “Cash Me Outside” girl or at least are familiar with her hugely viral catchphrase.
Danielle Bregoli, 13, appeared on Dr. Phil’s talk show in an episode called “I Want to Give Up My Car-Stealing, Knife-Wielding, Twerking 13-year-old Daughter Who Tried to Frame Me for a Crime.” The bratty teen monster loudly argued with her fed up 49-year-old single mother, Barbara Ann, before she muttered her infamous phrase “Cash me outside. How bow dah?” The ridiculousness of her character and speech patterns caught the attention of the internet, and soon a meme was born.
And because people can’t stop making stupid people famous, Danielle has found herself a bonafide star. She has parlayed her infamy into profit, and it has been reported that she will have earned almost $1 million selling merchandise and through appearances by the end of the year.
But that attention mixed with her anger issues has made her a target. TMZ reported that a 27-year-old Florida woman is suing Danielle’s mother for $15,000 because Danielle allegedly gave her an old-fashioned teen superstar beatdown.
The plaintiff, Kimberly Peterson, said that she got into a verbal altercation with Danielle on February 26 in Lake Worth, Florida. The talk became action when it escalated into a full-blown fight. Peterson’s attorney Gary Lesser filed a lawsuit on Tuesday, but only named Barbara Ann as a defendant.
In the lawsuit, Peterson said that Danielle flung food at her before repeatedly punching her to the point where she violently landed on the ground. Peterson said she suffered from serious bodily injuries like a broken nose and now wants the newly-rich Bregolis to pay up.
“At that time and place, a verbal altercation ensued, instigated by Bregoli, which led to Peterson being assaulted and repeatedly battered and punched by Bregoli, and those directed by Bregoli, causing serious bodily injury,” the complaint obtained by My Palm Beach Post stated.
TMZ reached out to Danielle’s people (and yes, she has them), and they said that a video of the alleged altercation proves that Danielle did not fight anybody and that the lawsuit is nothing but an attempt at extortion.
In the video mentioned, Danielle and her friends verbally fight with a group of patrons at a restaurant, and the argument leads to one of Danielle’s friends attacking a woman, who presumably is Peterson. Danielle stands at a distance before the group runs off.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office is reportedly investigating the incident and are on the lookout for the attacker in the video.
Danielle’s father, Ira Peskowitz, said that he is seeking custody so that he can shield his now infamous daughter from the public eye and get her therapy. She is currently not enrolled in school, and he is seeking to remedy that as well.
“[Danielle is] crying out for help,” Peskowitz said. “She’s doing these things for attention, and she’s not getting attention from the right people.”
