Summary: Rapper Kodak Black has been accused of attacking a female bartender at a strip club.
Dieuson Octave, also known as Kodak Black, is a 19-year-old up-and-coming rapper. Last week, his Atlantic Records debut “Painting Pictures” was released, but he wasn’t able to enjoy the moment. The reason? Like so many hip-hop superstars before him, he is already getting into hot water with the law.
After obtaining a police report on Tuesday, The Sun Sentinel published that Kodak Black assaulted a woman at a Miami-Dade strip club in February. He was on house arrest at the time, but he had chosen to violate it and spend a night out.
The accuser, Jennifer Cunningham, 34, is a bartender at the gentleman’s club, Club Climaxx. According to the police report, Kodak Black approached her bar at three in the morning and “started acting belligerent.” She told him to back off, and then he allegedly hit her in the forehead with his right arm.
Cunningham said that she pushed him away, and then he punched and kicked her everywhere. After a short scuffle, he left, and she kept working until her shift ended. After a few hours break at home, she returned for her next shift at 8 p.m. and that’s when she called the police.
The police took a report and assigned a detective to the case, but so far no formal charges have been filed against Kodak Black. If the troubled Haitian-American teenager is taken in, he will more than likely be charged for misdemeanor battery, which compounds his other legal woes. Last year, he was accused of raping a female fan in a South Carolina hotel room, and he is currently under house arrest facing a criminal sexual misconduct charge. If he is found guilty of that crime, he could end up in prison for a maximum of 30 years.
Kodak Black is also in trouble now with the Florida Department of Corrections for violating his house arrest. He failed to complete an anger management program, and he continuously broke his house arrest terms by wandering to unauthorized locations such as a boxing match and the strip club where he allegedly assaulted Cunningham.
Cunningham is represented by attorneys Matthew Kotzen and James DeMiles, who said that their client may pursue a civil lawsuit against the rapper because she suffered injuries. While Kodak Black may be quite young, he is already exhibiting a dangerous disdain towards women, and her legal team said that she may sue for damages to recover medical bills, not because she was looking for an easy payday from a celebrity.
Kodak Black is represented by Gary Kollin and Allan Stephen Zamren. They told The Sun Sentinel that they were unable to comment due to the pending motions regarding this case.
Kodak Black’s probation hearing is set for April 19.
