Summary: Mel B wants sole custody of her daughter that she had with film producer Stephen Belafonte.
She’ll tell you what she wants, what she really really wants. And that’s to keep her daughter away from Stephen Belafonte, 41.
After previously filing for joint custody, former Spice Girls singer Mel B, 41, has requested sole custody of their daughter, Madison, 5. She and her estranged husband have been in a heated divorce proceeding since she filed in Los Angeles last month.
TMZ said that Mel B had a change of heart when she learned her gun-owning husband was actually not allowed to own after a conviction of domestic violence against another woman. After discovering his illegal action, she reportedly decided to change her custody strategy. She now wants sole custody and for Belafonte to not have access to her other children from fathers Eddie Murphy and Jimmy Gulzar.
TMZ also said that Mel B wants to change her temporary restraining order to a permanent one. The current America’s Got Talent judge said that her film producer husband had been violent towards her during their marriage and he called her racial slurs. Adding to insult, Belafonte allegedly knocked up the nanny!
The contentious pair had a hot blonde nanny named Lorraine Gilles, and Mel B said that Belafonte impregnated her and then paid for an abortion. Mel B fired the 26-year-old German caretaker in September of last year, and her sister told The Daily Mail that Gilles had never had an affair with Belafonte and the pregnancy rumor was not true.
But the nanny allegation wasn’t the only sexual shocker from this case. According to The Mirror, Mel B said that her husband forced her to have numerous threesomes, and the third parties involved are allegedly scared to be outed!
“At least four of their alleged sex partners, including a high-profile U.S. TV presenter, are said to have contacted lawyers fearing footage of theirs may surface online, ruining their careers,” The Mirror stated. “But the number of partners over 10 years “runs into at least 20” including other TV presenters, PRs and relatives of Hollywood’s rich and famous.”
In her lawsuit, Mel B said that she had tried to repeatedly leave the abusive Belafonte, but she said that he threatened to release a sex tape of one of their alleged threesomes if she ever left him, thus destroying her career.
“He said he would destroy my career and take my kids from me. He threatened to release sexually explicit videotapes claiming I would never again work in the entertainment industry,” Mel B said.
Belafonte has already filed a petition for joint custody. He also wants spousal support from his more successful wife, but according to The Daily Mail, he did not request an amount. Yet.
Additionally, Belafonte requested that Mel B pays his legal fees, The Mirror reported, and he has denied all of her abuse allegations.
“When the Court determines the truth, it will become clear that this entire charade was nothing more than a smear campaign intended to cover up Ms. Brown’s own conduct during the marriage in light of her current involvement with a family television show, and in an effort to unfairly gain leverage both financially and with respect to custody of the children,” Belafonte’s lawsuit said. “When the degree to which Ms. Brown has gone to create a false depiction of her marriage to Mr. Belafonte is uncovered, real victims and survivors of domestic violence and sexual abuse will be understandably offended, angry and upset.”
The next court hearing between the pair will be April 24th in Los Angeles.
