Summary: R. Kelly is being sued by a Mississippi man for breaking up his marriage.
In 2002, the world got a glimpse into R. Kelly’s sex life when a video surfaced of him allegedly urinating on a teenage girl. Fast forward to today, and now a new lawsuit claims the R&B singer is also an adulterer!
According to Gulf News, the golden shower-loving singer had a years-long affair with a sheriff’s deputy’s wife in Mississippi. Last week, Deputy Kenneth Bryant filed a lawsuit in the state’s capital Jackson against R. Kelly, stating that the affair ruined his marriage.
Bryant is seeking unspecified damages for “emotional, psychological and financial loss.” Bryant also said R.Kelly gave his wife chlamydia.
In Bryant’s lawsuit, he provided scandalous images of his ex-wife Asia Childress with R.Kelly. No word on whether or not urinating was involved.
Bryant’s attorney Anna Powers told Gulf News that R. Kelly was served with the lawsuit on Saturday when he performed in Jackson. The attorney said that Bryant knew his wife had slept with the singer before they were married in July of 2012, but that Bryant trusted that the bumping and grinding was over.
“That was water under the bridge, over and done,” Powers said. “Our client loved his wife, wanted to work out his relationship.”
Bryant said he thought Childress was done sowing her oats with the “Ignition” singer, but in the lawsuit, the sheriff’s deputy said she reconnected with him after attending one of his concerts in October of 2012, just months after the couple’s wedding. This led to them secretly hooking up several times over the years.
Bryant said that Childress’ affair with R.Kelly got so intense that she uprooted them to move to Atlanta, where R.Kelly lived part-time. Bryant said that this move was detrimental to his career, but that he wanted to make his wife happy.
In the lawsuit, Bryant said he felt like he had been “cuckolded” a sexual term that describes a man who watches his lover have sex with another partner.
“Each time R. Kelly would have a concert in a nearby state, Childress would disappear to unite with her lover,” the lawsuit said. “Time after time, R. Kelly cuckolded Bryant, with blatant disregard for Bryant’s and Childress’ vows.”
While this lawsuit sounds outrageous, it could be winnable in the state of Mississippi. According to Gulf News, the conservative state has a law that allows spouses to sue the third parties who ripped apart their marriages. The complaints are referred as alienation of affections lawsuits.
“R Kelly’s wanton and reckless interference with plaintiff’s marriage relationship, his blatant disregard for family values, and his un-condoned and unrelenting adulterous relationship with plaintiff’s wife was accompanied by R. Kelly’s enticement of Childress to ignore her marriage,” the lawsuit said.
R. Kelly has yet to respond to the lawsuit or the allegations. Childress has also not been reached for comment by Gulf News.
Childress has asked Bryant for a divorce but has not yet filed one, according to Powers.
