Attorney Accused of Giving Cell Phone to Inmate Posts Selfie with Him on Company Facebook Page

Summary: Attorney Alexis Plunkett is using social media to fight back against the charges that she let an inmate use her cell phone.

Las Vegas attorney Alexis Plunkett loves a bad boy and doesn’t care if you know it! Or at least that’s what it appears like, based on her recent selfie with her boyfriend, convicted gangster Andrew Arevalo.

Plunkett was accused of providing her inmate boyfriend with a cell phone by officials at the the Clark County Detention Center, and as you can probably guess, that’s a no-no… But the attorney seemed to be unrepentant when it came to loving her man. According to The Daily Mail, she posted a selfie of her lover kissing her on the cheek on her law firm’s Facebook page (see picture below), and she captioned the photo with: “He that is without sin among you, let him cast a stone at her.”

Plunkett, 36, told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that she had no shame when it came to her affection for Arevalo, 26.

“The press will not dictate my relationship with Andrew; that is why I posted a private picture of us – to show that we are people and I am not ashamed of him. Never,” Plunkett said. “I’ve openly been with him for years and have never hidden it from anyone… I care deeply for Andrew and have for many years.”

Las Vegas police said that the attorney had allowed Arevalo and his friend Roger Estrada use of her cell phone during her multiple visits to the prison. They told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that they had become suspicious of her frequent late night visits, so they set up a surveillance system to spy on her.

Plunkett is being charged with two counts of conspiracy as well as 12 counts of unlawful possession of a portable telecommunication device.

Plunkett told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that the charges were “bullshit” and that the police were engaged in a “witch-hunt” against her because she was defending Arevalo in a case against the Nevada Department of Corrections. Additionally, Plunkett said she believed she was allowed the cell phone usage because of her role as a defense attorney, according to The Daily Mail.

Plunkett was arrested for providing the cell phone to Arevalo, and police said that they had also caught her on camera kissing her boyfriend during her prison visits.

After her arrest, Plunkett uploaded her mugshot to her company Facebook page and appeared to use the charges against her as a marketing tool. She has posted at least two ads stating that she would be a good attorney to hire because she knows how a criminal feels.

According to her company website, Plunkett is a graduate of the University of Arizona School of Law and earned her bachelor’s degree at Bowling Green State University. On the attorney directory website, Avvo, she has over 20 five-star reviews.

Plunkett’s boyfriend and client is a known member of the Surenos gang in Las Vegas, and while imprisoned for a felony conviction in 2009, he was shot in the face by a prison guard during a fight with a fellow inmate, who ended up dead. He was charged with involuntary manslaughter for the ordeal, and Plunkett is representing his case against the prison.
