Summary: A second accuser claims Usher did not tell her about his herpes before they had unprotected sex.
Usher has entertained the world for two decades–and he is a notable triple threat–a singer, dancer, and actor. But a recent lawsuit claiming that he infected a woman with herpes may change his legacy from an entertainer on fire to an entertainer with loins on fire.
Yesterday, TMZ broke the news that a “Jane Doe” filed a multi-million dollar lawsuit against the singer because she said that he had “exposed” her to herpes in April. The woman had met the married entertainer at his home in Atlanta on April 16th, and the two had oral sex and vaginal penetration. She said during this incident a condom was used. Twelve days later, the plaintiff hooked up with Usher again, this time in a hotel room in New Orleans. Unlike the first tryst, the sex was unprotected.
The woman said that she had read about Usher paying off another woman for giving her herpes, and Jane Doe filed a lawsuit shortly after. In the lawsuit, she said that Usher did not tell her about his disease, and that he had “exposed” her but that she had not taken an STD test yet.
This week, the woman updated her lawsuit, stating that she had been tested and was positive for herpes. She now wants Usher to pay $20 million!
TMZ said that the woman got her STD test results back on Saturday and was “devastated” to learn she had herpes simplex 2. After learning her results, she upped her lawsuit damages from $10 million and now wants the higher amount for emotional harm, medical bills, and punitive damages.
Usher is famous for songs such as “Burn,” “Yeah,” and “Confessions.” He successfully used his singing fame to obtain acting roles in teen movies such as She’s All That, and he is a successful music producer, owning his own label that has Justin Bieber signed. Currently, he is a judge on NBC’s hit reality show The Voice.
Usher married Tameka Foster in 2007 and they divorced in 2009. He later married Grace Miguel in 2015, and the pair are still together.
Last week, Radar Online reported that Usher had paid off another woman in 2012 for allegedly giving her herpes. The unnamed woman, a celebrity stylist, said that the two of them hooked up in 2009 or 2010, and he had not disclosed his disease status, even after the woman noticed “greenish discharge” from his penis.
According to documents obtained by Radar, Usher paid the first woman $1.1 million to keep quiet.
After news of the first woman went viral, celebrity attorney Lisa Bloom tweeted that not disclosing diseases to a potential partner is a criminal act. She stated that she is speaking with women who claim to have been exposed to Usher’s disease and who want her legal assistance.
“How much unprotected sex did Usher have after his herpes diagnosis? Women are reaching out to me. How dare he endanger women’s health?” Bloom tweeted.
