Meek Mill, a.k.a. Robert Rihmeek Williams, 30, rode a dirt bike in a residential area of Upper Manhattan without a helmet on Wednesday night, and he posted a video of him doing crazy moves on Instagram. On Thursday, the police made their arrest, and the “dangerous” rapper spent a night in jail.

His attorney, Joseph Tacopina, told The New York Daily News, that Meek Mill was targetted because of his high-profile status.

“It really stinks of obvious targeting an individual who is a celebrity and maybe who law enforcement don’t like, and it’s not what the system is supposed to be about,” Tacopina said. “If his name was John Smith, he wouldn’t have even been arrested. You could go to 110th St. and Dyckman right now and you’ll see 10 kids popping wheelies on their bikes. Nobody gets arrested.”

ABC 7 reported that someone had called 9-1-1 when they had seen Meek Mill riding on Wednesday, and the police were responding to that complaint.

“A 911 call brought police to the intersection of West 207th Street and Sherman Avenue at about 8:23 p.m. Wednesday, but by the time officers arrived, the group had driven away. Investigators were later made aware of video on social media showing Meek Mill doing wheelies on his dirt bike, which he was riding without a helmet, as part of the group,” the police report stated.

Earlier that evening, Meek Mill had performed a song on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.

TMZ reported that the police believed Meek Mill was a danger to himself and pedestrians when he decided to pop wheelies and show off on his bike.

BET stated that one of Meek Mill’s friends had recorded video of his arrest, and an officer can be heard questioning the rapper on whether or not he rode his bike the night before. The officer then reveals that the cops have video evidence that he had been riding, and then he puts him in handcuffs.

Meek Mill is a rapper who is also the founder of the record label, Dream Chasers Records. He famously dated superstar Nicki Minaj from 2015 to 2017.
