Summary: Kristen Stewart is the latest star to lawyer up after the recent celeb nude hacking.
Twilight actress Kristen Stewart was not pleased that nude photographs of her and her girlfriend, model Stella Maxwell, were leaked online. Maxwell, who also dated Miley Cyrus, had racy images of her with Stewart and images with Cyrus published, and the couple’s lawyer told TMZ that they had already requested the offending photographs be removed.
Attorney Scott Whitehead is representing Stewart, and he wrote a letter to several websites, including Celeb Jihad, to have his client’s photographs taken down. The pictures in question show Stewart and Maxwell in a bathroom taking a naked selfie.
These photographs were part of a new celeb hacking scandal which some have dubbed The Fappening 2.0, based on the first Fappening where stars such as Kate Upton and Jennifer Lawrence were phished and later had their nude pictures published online.
In the latest nude photo hack, stars such as Stewart, Maxwell, Cyrus, Katharine McPhee, Tiger Woods, and Lindsay Vonn saw their intimate pictures leaked. McPhee, Woods, and Vonn have already said that their lawyers have contacted Celeb Jihad to have the nudes removed.
Stewart’s lawyer argued that publishing Stewart’s photos was illegal because she owned the copyright. TMZ stated that as of today, Stewart’s nude photographs are still posted.
Another Los Angeles-based attorney S. Michael Kernan told Radar Online that he was representing an unnamed female client and that he too had requested her photographs be removed from a celebrity site that he would not name. Kernan has already filed documents on behalf of “Jane Doe” against Roe Corporation.
“Defendant and each of the Hyperlink Websites are degrading and patently offensive to the reasonable person and appearance in such website,” the court documents stated. “Plaintiff has not at any time granted any of the Defendants’ permission to use her name, likeness, photograph, or image to promote the Website, the Hyperlink Websites, or any other pornographic websites.”
Kernan told Radar he wanted the photos removed, and in the court papers, the photographs were described to show nipples and genitalia.
“We’re hoping to get the photographs taken down,” Kernan said. “We anticipate it happening shortly. I don’t expect it to go to trial. I am hoping to get a victory before trial.”
