Summary: Scarlett Johansson and Romain Dauriac’s divorce is finalized.
Blonde beauty Scarlett Johansson is now officially divorced from her French journalist husband. According to USA Today, the actress and Romain Dauriac announced the finalization after the two had an amicable settlement over their assets and custody of their daughter, Rose.
“We remain close friends and co-parents with a shared commitment to raising our daughter in a loving and compassionate environment,” the joint statement said.
In March, Johansson filed for divorce from Dauriac in New York. She called the union “broken” after only two years of marriage. During their divorce proceeding, the two fought for custody of Rose, who is now 3, and the Frenchman argued she should live with him because he was able to provide a more stable actress than an international superstar could offer.
“He believes that her schedule makes it impossible for her to have [primary] physical custody,” Dauriac’s lawyer, Harold Mayerson, told PEOPLE earlier this summer.
A source told US Weekly that Johansson was unhappy with her husband because they lived too differently. Dauriac is rumored to want to raise his family in France.
“Scarlett initiated splitting up and made the decision. She felt like they didn’t have much in common as far as lifestyle,” the source said.
Johansson, 32, refused to comment on the divorce, stating she wanted to respect her daughter’s feelings.
“As a devoted mother and private person and with complete awareness that my daughter will one day be old enough to read the news about herself, I would only like to say that I will never, ever be commenting on the dissolution of my marriage,” Johansson said in a statement. “Out of respect for my desires as a parent and out of respect for all working moms, it is with kindness that I ask other parties involved and the media to do the same.”
Luckily, the pair was able to come to an agreement in five months, but they did not disclose details to the public and their legal documents were sealed.
Mayerson and Johansson’s lawyer Judith Poller refused to add comment beyond the couple’s joint statement.
Johansson has starred as Black Widow in the Avengers franchise as well as numerous other feature films. She was previously married to Ryan Reynolds from 2008 to 2011. Since she had filed for divorce from Dauriac, 34, she has been linked to Saturday Night Live writer and host Colin Jost as well as her entertainment lawyer, Pete Yorn, 52.
A source told PEOPLE, that her romance with Yorn “hasn’t fizzled” but that so far they are openly dating around and not serious.
“They’re still seeing each other but are busy and have a lot of commitments, so when they get moments of time, that’s when they make the effort to see each other outside of their work exchanges,” the source said.
Pete Yorn is the managing partner of Morris Yorn Barnes Levine Entertainment Law Firm. Besides Johansson, Yorn represents stars such as Ellen Degeneres, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Tony Hawk, and many other A-listers. He graduated from Tulane Law School.
