Summary: Olivier Martinez has settled a civil assault case with an LAX employee.
Olivier Martinez settled the lawsuit filed by an airport worker who claimed the French actor assaulted him with a car seat. According to The Blast, the actor and his ex-wife, Halle Berry, settled the case for an undisclosed amount in October.
In 2015, Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) worker Ronaldo Owens claimed that he was shoved by a baby car seat held by Martinez, and the incident was caught on video (see above.) Martinez had arrived at the airport with police escorts, and while walking to his terminal, he shoved Owens who was standing nearby, as paparazzi took pictures.
“At the time of the incident Ronaldo was employed at LAX and was lawfully in the area,” the lawsuit alleges. “Thereafter, and without any provocation or justification Martinez abruptly turned towards Ronaldo, and brutally and intentionally charged at Ronaldo using an empty child’s car seat he held in his hands as a weapon, striking Ronaldo to the ground with the seat, and causing Ronaldo humiliation and injury.”
TMZ published footage where Owens appeared to be trying to take a cell phone photo of Martinez, but it is unclear why Martinez targetted him over the other snapping photographers nearby.

Owens filed a lawsuit in Torrance, and he was seeking unspecified damages that were rumored to be in the millions. He originally sued Martinez and Halle Berry, but Berry was dismissed from the case in September, according to New Magazine. Owens had sued Berry, who had not touched him, because he said the couple had a history of violent behavior.
“They act in this manner as husband and wife, each approving, ratifying and condoning the conduct of one another in this way and are liable for the conduct of one another as a joint enterprise,” Owens’ lawsuit obtained by PEOPLE said.
Owens said Martinez was guilty of assault, battery, negligence and intentional infliction of emotional distress. He had filed a police report but criminal charges were dropped by the police.
Berry and Martinez, both 51, are no longer together. Their divorce was finalized in December of 2016. The couple has a 4-year-old named Maceo. Berry has another child, Nahla, whom she co-parents with model Gabriel Aubry.
Martinez is a French actor who was well-known for his role as a seductive adulterer in the hit movie “Unfaithful.” He and Halle Berry began dating in 2010 after meeting on the set of “Dark Tide,” which was released in 2012.
During their relationship, Martinez demonstrated a penchant for violence when he fought Berry’s ex, Gabriel Aubry, in 2012. Martinez was treated at a hospital in Los Angeles for injuries he sustained in the altercation.
Martinez and Berry married in 2013 and announced they were divorcing in 2015. It took one year for the divorce to finalize. Since then, Martinez has been linked to singer Kylie Minogue and Berry is dating music producer, Alex Da Kid.
