Mike Epps

Summary: Disregarding the sexual misconduct apologies of numerous celebrities this year, there have been a number of other apologies that celebrities made throughout the year for their mistakes.

We have heard all of the apologies from the male celebs for their past sexual indiscretions, but what about all of the other apologies celebrities have made throughout the year? Celebrities make a lot of mistakes and say a lot of things without thinking of how it will be taken. Their fans don’t hesitate to call out celebrities for these simple mistakes. Here are the top 10 apologies for this year.

What
Where

1. Mike Epps

During a comedy show in April, Mike Epps brought a kangaroo on stage that upset People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). Epps took to Instagram to apologize, stating “Look I wanna sincerely apologize to everybody. I don’t own the kangaroo and did not mean any harm to the animal it got outta hand and I am sorry.”

Magician Penn Jillette appeared in August on “Real Time With Bill Maher.” He made a joke about his home country, Newfoundland, but it came out as an insult. He said, “I’m probably from Newfoundland, which is just a euphemism for stupid.” Canadians weren’t very impressed with his joke. After the show, he apologized, “I was setting up a bit we didn’t get to. I failed and I’m sorry. I’m an idiot.”

3. Chrissy Teigen

Snapchat fans got an eye full of a topless Chrissy Teigen preparing for a spray tan in October. Teigen crossed her arm over her chest to snap a picture, not realizing her arm was not covering everything. Fans didn’t hesitate to let Teigen know what she was exposing. She responded with a boring apology: “I just want to apologize to everyone I know. I’ve let my friends down. I’ve let my family down. I have nipples. It’s not something I’m proud of.”

4. Lorde

Pop star Lorde is friends with superstar Taylor Swift. The Guardian wanted to learn more from Lorde about their friendship. She explained in June, “It’s like having a friend with very specific allergies. There are certain places you can’t go together. Certain things you can’t do. … It’s like having a friend with an autoimmune disease.” Fans weren’t too impressed with her description. As an apology, Lorde tweeted, “I f—ed up & that was really insensitive. I’m sorry.”

5. Rod Stewart

During a March Abu Dhabi concert, Rod Stewart appears in a now-deleted video with friends. Apparently in the video, “Stewart appears to get a male friend to kneel down, hold him by the hair and make what looks like a cutting motion across his throat.” Stewart claimed he was mimicking a scene from “Game of Thrones,” not an Islamic State-style execution. He apologized for the mistake, “Understandably, this has been misinterpreted and I send my deepest apologies to those who have been offended.”

6. Josh Groban

Everyone knows about Mariah Carey’s New Year’s Eve lip-sync fiasco, but fellow artist Josh Groban called her out on it, angering her loyal fans. After her disastrous performance, Groban tweeted, “Any time one of the greatest voices of my generation lip syncs an angel loses its wings.” By the next day, he had deleted those tweets, stating, “Deleted my tweets about a certain performance because it was made in humor but taken way more meanly than intended. Not out to diss artists.”

7. Lucy Hale

Sometimes we just don’t like the way we look in a photo. Actress Lucy Hale had one of those moments in a photo from Father’s Day. She commented, “Ugh, I was so fat” but fans did not like the comment. Hale tweeted her apology, “I’m extremely sorry if my comment about my weight offended anyone. I know people look up to me and I should be way more aware of what I say sometimes.”

8. Eric Bigger

“Bachelorette” contestant Eric Bigger called it as he saw it when Rachel Lindsay picked the obvious second choice guy Bryan Abasolo because the other guy wasn’t ready to be engaged. He referred to him as the “consolation prize,” which angered others. He later explained his comment, “There is no ill will, no disrespect, I’m just calling what I saw. Forgive me, I apologize, but it’s all love.”

9. Anderson Cooper

The journalist and talk show host Anderson Cooper had conservative Jeffrey Lord on his CNN show. He remarked to Lord, “If [Trump] took a dump on his desk, you would defend it.” Cooper apologized on-air for his “crude comment” and then tweeted, “it was unprofessional. I am genuinely sorry.”

10. Laverne Cox

Actress Laverne Cox failed to introduce the band Metallica during the Grammy Awards in February. She announced the upcoming performance of “eight-time Grammy award winners and six-time Grammy winner, Lady Gaga!” Metallica was the eight-time winners. Cox did not realize she failed to say their name, tweeting, “I am so sorry to #Metallica and all their fans. I am told I didn’t say their names during the intro. Love you Metallica. You Rock.”
