Summary: The wrongful death lawsuit against Demi Moore has been dismissed.

Demi Moore has finally settled with the family of the man who drowned in her pool. According to TMZ, “both sides reached an agreement,” and the case has been dismissed. It is unclear what the conditions are or if Moore had written a check.

The lawsuit in question stemmed from a tragic incident at Moore’s home in 2015. The A-list actress was out of the country and had two housesitters watch her estate. The housesitters, however, hosted a raucous party, where a young man got drunk and drowned in the pool.

Edenilson Valle, 21, was a guest at the party, and he imbibed and wandered into the pool area while the other guests had moved to another place in the house. Valle fell into the water, and not being able to swim, he drowned. Police ruled that there was no foul play.

Valle’s family said that Moore was responsible because her pool area had slippery rocks and no depth markers. They filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Moore and her housesitters, Lenny Hernandez and Bessy Wong. The family was seeking $25,000.

The original lawsuit filed only listed Hernandez and Wong and the property’s trust; but later, Valle’s family added the A-list actress, who is reportedly worth $150 million. Moore’s initial response to the lawsuit was that the deceased was liable for his own death and was trespassing on her property.

Authorities said that Valle’s body had been underwater for 10 to 15 minutes before it was pulled out.

After hearing of the death in 2015, Moore expressed her condolences to his family.

“I was out of the country traveling to meet my daughters for a birthday celebration when I got the devastating news,” Moore said. “The loss of a child is an unthinkable tragedy and my heart goes out to this young man’s family and friends.”

Since she was out of town, Moore was most likely surprised that she was being sued, and last June, she revealed that the stress caused by the lawsuit was negatively affecting her health.

“Stress, when you are not acknowledging it, and how I actually held my bottom teeth against my front teeth, knocked my front teeth out,” Moore told Extra TV. “Stress is a harder detox than even drugs, and it can outlet in ways. Mine happened to outlet with literally a tooth falling out into my hand and I thought, ‘Holy crap! My warranty is up!’”
