Summary: A former child star was arrested for robbing several people in Burbank, California.
Adam Hicks, a former Disney star, was arrested on Wednesday for a string of armed robberies. He was best known for playing Luther on “Zeke and Luther” and starring in the channel’s hit movie musical “Lemonade Mouth.”
Hicks, 25, was arrested in Burbank, California after a SWAT team raided his home, according to Buzzfeed News. Police stated that they had found stolen property there and that they were led to the actor’s home while investigating several armed robberies in the neighborhood.
Hicks’ girlfriend, Danni Tamburo, also an actress, was arrested too. She allegedly drove the getaway car.
On Wednesday, Hicks had allegedly first approached a 52-year-old man at 5:15 am. Hicks pulled a gun on him and demanded his wallet. The man, however, escaped.
“Fearing for his life, the victim ran away and was able to escape to safety,” Burbank police said.
Later that day, Hicks then approached three other victims within minutes of each other, and he was able to steal their property before leaving in a dark vehicle. Police were still investigating the first robbery when Hicks accosted the other victims who were described as enjoying a walk.
An eyewitness saw the escape vehicle and immediately called the police. Officials said that they found stolen property in the car as well.
Hicks and Tamburo are due in court on Friday. They were charged with two counts of 2nd-degree robbery and three counts of attempted 2nd-degree robbery. Hicks’ bail is set for $350,000, and Tamburo’s is set for $300,000, according to TMZ.
According to Hicks’ IMDB, he broke into the business in 2000, and he has been steadily working as an actor since. He most recently appeared on a series for Hulu.
Tamburo, 23, started acting in 2014, but she has mostly been in minor projects. On IMDB, she was listed as having a guest part on the show “Shameless.”
If Hicks is convicted, he faces up to 60 years in prison. Tamburo faces up to 15 years.
Police said that they are still looking for a motive. Anyone with information on this case is encouraged to call the Burbank Police Department Investigations Division at 818-238-3210.
