The moot court team was comprised of third-year law student Caroline F. Savini and second-year law student Simone Ford. They went undefeated at the tournament to claim the national title. Savini was further awarded as the best oralist of the final round.

There was a second UGA team at the moot court competition which finished as semifinalists. This team was comprised of second-year law students Hayley Nicolich and Eric Wilder. They were awarded the Best Appellee Brief Award. UGA Law was the only school to have two teams in the quarterfinals. Three of the best five oralists in the preliminary rounds were UGA Law students – Savini, Wilder, and Nicolich.

School of Law Director of Advocacy Kellie Casey said, “I am so proud of these two teams. They were outstanding. I really wish it could have been an all Georgia final, but instead the two teams met in the semifinals. They were both so well prepared as is evidenced by the oralist and brief awards. It was a strong tournament for Georgia.â€

The team went undefeated in the contest, beating teams from Emory University, Georgia State University, Lincoln Memorial University, Belmont University, and the University of South Carolina.

The team will now compete in the national tournament in April in Raleigh, North Carolina. Casey said of this team, “This team is well positioned to represent UGA in the national round. There will be 14 teams competing for the national championship next month, and I am confident their hard work and preparation will pay off.â€

There was a second team from UGA Law that participated in the regional tournament. The team was comprised of third-year law students Hallie E. Willis and Oliver R. Ladd and second-year law students Matthew Poletti and Davis Kimball. Both teams were coached by third-year law student B. Elizabeth Tarver.

UGA Law has been working to further prepare its students for the real world, which is evident in their achievements, according to law school Dean Peter B. “Bo†Rutledge. The school strives to provide opportunities and events for their students with professionals and leaders in the legal community.
