Summary: Sources close to Kendra Wilkinson and Hank Baskett speculate they may divorce soon.
“Girls Next Door” star Kendra Wilkinson may divorce football player Hank Baskett. A source told Us Weekly that the pair have been fighting a lot lately, and an end to their nine-year union looks to be on the horizon.
The source told Us Weekly that Wilkinson has been “really unhappy and felt uncomfortable in the marriage and they have been fighting a lot.” This report comes after Wilkinson wrote a note on Instagram denying reports that she and her husband were faking their marital woes for reality TV.
“1. how do u fake marital problems? makes absolutely no sense,” Wilkinson wrote. “2. Yes we are having issues 3. My job has been reality tv for 13 years 4. My show was a comedy and light hearted til sad times happened then we had to change my show from comedy to drama. Not what i wanted but was a part of my journey and story.”
The post was uploaded in February but has since been deleted.
Wilkinson said that her marriage problems are known by the producers and network where her reality show, Kendra on Top, is airing; and she said that her friends and family also are aware.
Wilkinson and Baskett married in 2009, and they have aired their relationship on Kendra on Top and Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars. They have two children, Hank IV, 8, and Alijah, 3.
Wilkinson gained fame thanks to her time modeling for Playboy Magazine, and she was one of Hugh Hefner’s live-in girlfriends. She, along with Holly Madison and Bridget Marquadt, starred in E! Network’s hit show Girls Next Door, which documented the women’s lives inside the Playboy Mansion from 2005 to 2010.
Baskett is a former wide receiver for the Minnesota Vikings, Philadelphia Eagles and Indianapolis Colts.
PEOPLE spoke with an anonymous friend who said the two had different parenting styles and personalities but that their kids came first.
“Kendra’s personality is much more proactive and commanding, but Hank has a quiet strength,” a source told PEOPLE. “They’re honestly both incredible, devoted, hands-on parents. They don’t miss practices or life moments and will do anything to protect their kids. If you really had to say who’s more hands-on — and this is purely because parenting is a partnership — after Hank retired [from the NFL in 2011], Kendra handled business and Hank handled the home.”
Another source said that Wilkinson hates the idea of divorce but is very unhappy.
“Kendra is just not happy,” the source told PEOPLE. “She’s always been someone who wanted to be fully committed, married forever, and was definitely a ‘I’ll never get a divorce’ kind of girl, but she really lost trust in her marriage and she’s realized there’s no turning back.”
