Summary: Will Ferrell was the victim of a serious two-car accident on Thursday night.

Comic actor Will Ferrell, 50, was rushed to the hospital on Thursday after a serious two-car accident, according to TMZ.

Ferrell was traveling in a SUV in Orange County, California on Thursday evening when a Toyota sideswiped him, causing his SUV to spin and flip over.  Ferrell, who starred on Saturday Night Life before beginning a lucrative film career, was rushed to the hospital and reportedly is doing well. He was taken for treatment along with two others.

Ferrell was riding on the I-5 freeway at 11pm in a chauffer-driven SUV with three passengers. A witness said that after the accident, one of his friends was bleeding profusely.

According to TMZ, drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a cause for the accident, and police are continuing their investigation.

Ferrell, who starred in Anchorman, appeared as Ron Burgundy at a Funny or Die event outside of San Diego and was riding back from the event.

California Highway Patrol Sgt. Richard Peacock told Deadline that Ferrell’s SUV was driving in the HOV lane when the Toyota attempted to get in. That sideswiping caused the SUV to veer into the center divider and caused the vehicle to overturn.

TMZ reported that there were bottles of alcoholic beverages found at the scene, but it was unclear where they had come from. Local police later clarified that they did not think that alcohol played a part in this accident.

The Ellis Firm said that most car accidents are caused by negligent drivers, which include those impaired by alcohol or are on their cell phone.

“Each year, hundreds of thousands of car accidents occur in Temecula and other parts of California,” the Ellis Firm said on their website. “In 2013 alone, over 150,000 crashes that caused injuries and 2,800 fatal crashes were reported throughout the state, according to the California Highway Patrol. Tragically, reckless or negligent behaviors on the part of motorists may contribute to many of these accidents. It’s critical for drivers to understand and avoid the most common of these habits, which can greatly raise the risk of accidents, injuries and fatalities.”
