Summary: Vermont Law School moved to expel a student who was causing problems with the school and fellow students.
Vermont Law School has a problem student that they have decided to get rid of. Law student Sissy Bradford, 50, has raised numerous petty complaints against the school and its staff while fellow students have voiced complaints against her as being a bully, according to the Vermont Digger.
Bradford filed complaints with the Department of Education and other entities about the law school, alleging discrimination by the staff and the obstruction of her right to free speech.
VLS President Thomas McHenry responded to her complaints with a “Letter of Involuntary Separation.” The letter explains that this is her last semester with the law school because she violated several student handbook policies. Bradford will not be allowed to remain with the law school after May 6 because she has caused “emotional harm to others,” burdened “the school’s financial and human resources,” and interfered “with the school’s educational mission.”
Bradford is also prohibited from emailing other students and entering law school property during her last few weeks as a student at the school.
The other students, some of whom went to the administrators with their complaints, claimed Bradford was bullying them and deluging them with unwanted emails.
An unofficial email newsletter, “The Goose,” explained how Bradford believed the staff and students were bullying and marginalizing her because of her age, because she is a woman, and because she suffers from PTSD. She also complained to the Department of Education about the school’s financial situation without a real reason to believe the school was unstable.
