Summary: Usher’s ex-lover is suing him for $40 million.Â
Usher’s sexual history may cost him millions if Laura Helm gets her way. According to Celebrity Insider, the woman claims Usher gave her incurable herpes, and she is seeking an unspecified amount of damages in a new lawsuit which could cost the entertainer millions.
“Plaintiff suffers mentally and emotionally from the humiliation and stigma attached (to) a single woman infected with the incurable Herpes SV2,” the lawsuit stated.
Almost two years ago, Helm and the “U Got It Bad” singer had sex on two occasions, and they allegedly did not use condoms during oral sex and had vaginal sex once without a condom. Helm said that she contracted herpes in her mouth and on the vagina from the experience, and this month, she filed a lawsuit against Usher for battery, negligence, fraud, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
Helm’s lawsuit was filed in Fulton County, Georgia. According to AJC, Helm is a radio host who said that she and Usher were platonic friends at first before he pursued a sexual relationship with her.
Helm’s lawsuit is an addition to three other herpes lawsuits filed against the singer, who was outed by Radar Online in 2017 for settling a herpes case with an unidentified woman for $1 million. Once that information went public, other women and one man also filed lawsuits against the entertainer, who is well-known for being Justin Bieber’s mentor.
One of Usher’s other lawsuits was filed by Quantasia Sharpton who said that she and Usher had sex at a Days Inn following one of his concerts. Earlier this month, Usher asked that documents be sealed in this case to protect his medical records, and a hearing on this motion is scheduled for later this month.
Another woman who has remained anonymous sued Usher in July of 2017 for allegedly affecting her with herpes, and she is seeking $20 million in punitive damages and $20 million for medical bills and emotional suffering.
The third case was filed by an anonymous man who said that Usher allegedly exposed him to herpes without telling him during sex. He is represented by attorney Lisa Bloom, and he filed his lawsuit in August of 2017.
During the alleged trysts outlined above, Usher was married to Grace Miguel, but they separated this March. TMZ stated that in April, Miguel filed for divorce from the singer, who is estimated to be worth $180 million.
Miguel and Usher married in 2015, and the couple had no children.
“After much thought and consideration, we have mutually decided to separate as a couple. We remain deeply connected, loving friends who will continue supporting each other through the next phases of our lives. The enormous amount of love and respect that we have for each other will only increase as we move forward,” the couple said.
