Summary: Kevin Federline is fighting Britney Spears for more child support.

When Britney Spears first got together with Kevin Federline over ten years ago, the backup dancer was already not much of an earner and had multiple kids with another woman. But the pop star fell in love, and now she is paying significantly for her short-lived relationship.

In recent court documents, Federline argued that Spears’ monthly child support payments are not enough, and he said that he needs more, according to Buzzfeed. Currently, the entertainer with a hit show in Las Vegas pays her ex-husband $20,000 a month to care for their two children, but Federline said that the money is not enough to keep up with the lifestyle that Spears has accustomed them to.

Spears has been paying $20,000 a month to Federline since 2007, and Federline submitted court documents on Tuesday in Los Angeles Superior Court demanding more money after Spears refused an increase. The two were married in 2004 and divorced only two years later.

Federline said that he only earns $34,000 a year on his own and that he has no savings. He rents a 2,000 square foot home for his two sons with Spears and his two other children with his ex-girlfriend Shar Jackson. Federline also has two children with Victoria Prince.

Federline said that he is a modest earner in contrast to Spears who brings in millions a year, and he claimed that his children with Spears, 12-year-old Sean Preston and 11-year-old Jayden James, were used to a luxurious lifestyle because of their mother.

Federline said that when he and Spears made their original child support agreement she was making significantly less and that the boys did not have as many expenses. Federline contrasted his 2,000 square foot home that he shares with his six kids and wife with the mega-mansion that Spears lives in Las Vegas, and he said that when the boys are with their money, they have access to private chefs, caregivers, and tutors but with him, they can’t even have friends spend the night because there is no room.

Federline said that in 2008 he was able to earn six-figures but that number has dwindled while Spears’ income has risen.

“I no longer earn a six-figure income like I did in 2008,” Federline said. “I am no longer able to perform as a dancer due to my age, and I have not been as successful in putting out new music as I was in 2008. I am simply less of a ‘name’ and less in demand than I was in 2008.”

Federline is represented by attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan. Kaplan said that according to California law both divorced parents must give their children the same lifestyle.

Federline is seeking $60,000 a month in child support from Spears, according to Yahoo. In addition to that increase, Federline wants Spears to pay his legal bill of $350,000.

A hearing on the matter is set for August 1, 2018.
