Summary: Britney Spears looks happy and healthy on social media, despite a child support battle with her ex-husband Kevin Federline.
Kevin Federline claims to only make $30,000 a year, and he is suing his ex-wife, Britney Spears, to get almost $60,000 a month in child support payments. Spears already gives him $20,000 a month to care for their two children in addition to covering their tuition and other expenses, but Federline said that he deserves more.
“We think the reasonable needs for the children while they would be in Kevin’s custody is probably three times what he’s currently receiving,” Federline’s attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan told PEOPLE.
The custody battle is pending, but Spears does not seem to be troubled by it, at least judging from her recent social media posts. This weekend, the pop star posted a picture of herself wearing a white corset on set of her new music video.
Spears’ fight with Federline began earlier this month when he asked for a child support payment increase. Federline has argued that he makes a modest income compared to his ex, and that he is entitled to more cash because she is making more than when the original support agreement was made. Critics say, however, that Spears already takes care of her children financially and that Federline just wants to use the money on himself, his new wife, and his four other children that he had with other women.
Federline reportedly could leverage custody of Spears’ children to get the bigger payout, but Spears has been putting up a strong front. Since Federline’s documents were filed, she has been busy posting sweet snaps of her early career or of her enjoying time with her sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James.
Spears and Federline married in 2007. They met when he had been a background dancer for one of her tours. They were married for three years and had two children.
Spears and Federline had a prenuptial agreement so he was not given half of her multi-million dollar assets, but in their divorce settlement, he was granted full custody of their children as well as the five-figure a month child support payments. In his recent filings, Federline said his children live in near poverty when they are with him and that they live like royalty when they are at her lavish Las Vegas home.
A source told Entertainment Tonight, “Kevin wants a raise in money and he can’t account for where the $20,000 is going.”
In Federline’s recent filing, he requested Spears disclose how much money she now earns.
