FIU Law Names Antony Page as Dean

Summary: Florida International University College of Law selected Anthony Page of Indiana University School of Law as the new dean.

Florida International University College of Law announced the appointment of their new dean, Antony Page. He joins from the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law in Indianapolis where he was a professor and vice dean, according to Miami’s Community Newspapers.

Provost Kenneth G. Furton said, “Today marks a significant moment in FIU’s history. FIU Law is already a leader among Florida law schools, and Dean Page shares our enthusiasm for continuing its rise in the national rankings as well.”

Page brings to the school a depth of public service experience. He has served as a diplomat in the Canadian Foreign Service, as a transactional attorney in the London and Los Angeles offices of Sullivan & Cromwell, clerk for Judge Harry Lindley Hupp of the Central District of California and Judge Arthur Lawrence Alarcon of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

In his role as vice dean, Page had an integral role in launching a new graduate interdisciplinary program and developing initiatives to improve access to legal education. He has been published in the Michigan Law Review, Boston University Law Review, and Emory Law Journal.

Page said, “I’m honored to be entrusted with leading FIU Law at this most important juncture for legal education. Significant transformations are taking place in the legal profession and FIU Law is developing a reputation as one of the country’s most forward-thinking law schools.”

FIU Law has been making big strides towards a powerful reputation. The school’s graduates secured a No. 1 ranking on four of the past five Florida Bar exams. FUI Law’s acceptance rate puts them on U.S. News World & Reports’ ranking as No. 30 in the nation and No. 1 in Florida. The National Jurist named them as the 17th Best Value Law School.

Page added, “We will maintain our student-centered focus, while also exploring new avenues to ensure that our students are prepared to thrive in a rapidly evolving profession. FIU is one of the world’s most globally minded universities, and it’s located in one of the nation’s most entrepreneurial and innovative cities. We are ideally positioned to serve the legal profession and the community in Florida, the United States, and internationally.”

Page’s appointment will be effective July 30. In the meantime, Page is getting to know the faculty, alumni, stakeholders, and the students. “Our people are our greatest asset. We’ll go as far as they will propel us.”
