On Tuesday, George Clooney was riding on a motor scooter in Italy when he was struck by a car, The Wrap reported.
Clooney, 57, was taken to the John Paul II hospital in Olbia, Italy, and he was released after treatment for minor injuries. He reportedly received a MRI and had bruises on his thighs.
Clooney’s rep said that he was recovering at home and “will be fine.”
Clooney was in Italy filming a Hulu miniseries adaptation of Catch-22, Joseph Heller’s popular World War II novel. Clooney was originally scheduled to play the lead, but in April, the streaming network said that Kyle Chandler would replace him so that he could focus on producing and directing. Clooney is now playing the part of Scheisskopf.
KTLA said that in the Tuesday accident Clooney was thrown over the top of his scooter after a Mercedes hit him. The driver had failed to stop at a turn. A police officer in Olbia said that Clooney would be monitored by hospital staff as an outpatient for the next 20 days.
TMZ reported that Clooney was riding his scooter at 60 mph before he was thrown 20 feet.
“Sources with direct knowledge of the crash tell TMZ … Clooney was doing 60 MPH when a car suddenly pulled in front of him. Clooney was thrown from his bike and his helmet struck the car’s windshield, causing it to shatter. The force of the impact actually broke his helmet,” TMZ wrote.
Clooney is an A-list actor who is well-known for his work in ER and Oh, Brother Where Art Thou. He is married to human rights attorney Amal Clooney, and they have a home in Italy. The two are parents to 1-year-old twins, Alexander and Ella Clooney.
Clooney, a former serial bachelor, seems to be enjoying his life as a husband and father. According to PEOPLE, he keeps his kids out of the public eye, but a source said that he is doting on them.
“They’re too beautiful, simply adorable,” a source told PEOPLE. “One looks just like her mother and the other is the image of his father … It looks like they took the best parts of both Amal and George and mixed them together.”
