On 30th January 2023, New York City Mayor Eric Adams made a significant announcement regarding the appointment of 21 judges to the Family Court, Criminal Court, and Civil Court. These appointments aim to streamline the justice system and eliminate bottlenecks due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mayor Adams has appointed three judges to the Family Court and one to the Criminal Court. Additionally, he has reappointed three judges to the Family Court, ten to the Criminal Court, and four interim Civil Court judges. These appointments are part of the Mayor’s vision for a safer city and his commitment to making the justice system more efficient, effective, and just for all.
