Bobbi Kristina Brown’s partner has been ordered to $36 million in a wrongful death suit. An Atlanta judge ordered the payment by Nick Gordon after repeatedly missing deadlines. Brown, the daughter of Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown, was found unresponsive in the bath of her Atlanta townhome in January 2015.

Fulton County Superior Court Judge T. Jackson Bedford ruled that Gordon failed to meet court deadlines on multiple occasions in the civil suit. The conservator of her estate wins by default. He awarded damages of $36,250,000 to her estate.

Gordon was listed on the police report as being in the home when investigators arrived, as well as another friend. The lawsuit claims that other people were also in the house when she was found. Brown was found face down in the bathtub. She was in a coma for six months before being transferred to hospice care and dying at the age of 22 on July 26, 2015. Her death was eerily similar to her mother’s death.

Houston was found face-down in a bathtub with a foot of water at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. Prescription drugs were found in the suite and the evidence in her body of heart disease and cocaine. Her death was ruled as accidental drowning.

Bobby Brown and their family blame Gordon for giving her a “toxic cocktail” and then placing her first down in the bath. He did not appear in court and does not have an attorney for the civil case. His criminal defense attorneys state that the allegations are baseless. An official cause of death could not be determined by the medical examiner’s office but cocaine, alcohol, morphine, and prescription drugs were found in her system.

Gordon, an orphan just three years older than Brown, was raised by Houston. He has not been charged with a crime. Brown often referred to Gordon as her husband.
