Summary: TMZ reports that Brad Pitt is under investigation in Los Angeles for child abuse.
This week, it was announced that Angelina Jolie had filed for divorce from husband Brad Pitt, but things are already started to get ugly. This morning, TMZ reported that Pitt was under investigation by the LAPD and L.A. County Dept. of Children and Family Services for allegedly abusing his children. “That’s what triggered the divorce,” TMZ wrote.
TMZ said that Pitt and Jolie were on a private jet with their children when Pitt allegedly got wasted and began to verbally and physically abuse his kids. Sources told TMZ that someone on the plane or tarmac notified the authorities of his behavior and he is now being investigated.
Jolie was so allegedly distraught by Pitt’s airplane behavior that she separated from him the next day and filed for divorce soon after.
A source close to Pitt denied the allegations, and The Hollywood Reporter stated that the LAPD was not investigating the actor for child abuse.

“We have no criminal investigation that we are actively pursuing,” Sgt. Barry Montgomery said to The Hollywood Reporter. “To my knowledge, [Pitt talking to police] never happened. And right now, that is where our office is. We are not investigating any case, nor do we have any allegations against Mr. Pitt. We understand how rumors get spun up, and hopefully we can put a few of them to rest. We have no investigation involving Mr. Pitt.”
While the LAPD denies TMZ’s claims, the LA DCFS said they were unable to confirm or deny due to strict confidentially laws.
Pitt’s violent behavior is not the only cause of the divorce that has been flung around in the media. Page Six said that Jolie had hired a private investigator and discovered he was having an affair with his recent costar, Marion Cottilard. The French actress responded on Instagram that she was pregnant with her second child with her partner, who was not Brad Pitt.
When the divorce was first filed, Pitt released a statement to People.
“I am very saddened by this, but what matters most now is the well-being of our kids,” Pitt said. “I kindly ask the press to give them the space they deserve during this challenging time.”
Jolie is being represented by Laura Wasser, who handled the actress’s divorce from Billy Bob Thornton.
