Summary: An Israeli woman posted a want ad on Craigslist for an amateur actor that could travel to Israel to poison her ex-husband.

You never know what you can find Craigslist. You may even be able to find a job as a hitman. A listing by an Israeli woman living in Oklahoma offers $4,000 for someone to kill her ex-husband. The catch – the ex-husband lives in Tel Aviv.

The Oklahoman reported that Danielle Dana Layman of Ponca City, Oklahoma was looking for a “discrete†actor with her Craigslist ad. The 37-year-old advertised the job as a “10 day gig overseas for amateur, competitive pay!†She included characteristics like “creative, outgoing and friendly, positive personality, boldness and bravery†as required skills. The ad read, “Doesn’t have to be a professional actor. Required: Creative, outgoing and friendly, positive personality, boldness and bravery (some stunts may seem risky, although they are completely safe). Discrete (you must not disclose any information related to the plot to ANYONE under ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, until after it premiers, except with explicit permission from production).â€

She indicated that she was a secret agent for Israel’s intelligence agency that needed an amateur actor for an overseas production. What she really wanted was a contract killer to pose as an American tourist that could slowly poison her ex-husband.

One person who responded to the ad in May immediately went to the FBI after meeting with her at a cafe. The woman, Tinsley Keefe, told the authorities that Layman gave her the name of Samantha Dowry. Layman offered Keefe $4,000 cash and $1,000 for expenses for her to travel to Israel. She was directed to poison the ex-husband, a taxi driver, even giving her a bag of ricin to do the job. Layman claimed that she needed an Islamic State militant group operative to be killed but it was really just her ex. Keefe declined the position, stating she was pregnant.

Keefe explained, “She had all these pictures and a slideshow presentation all ready to go. She had codes…and was teaching me how to do those. But she also said that the reason she wanted an American, female tourist to do it was because they would be less likely to be suspected.â€

Officials arrested Layman at her home, charging her with using the internet to solicit murder in Oklahoma City federal court. She could face 10 years in prison. During the search of her home, investigators found printed instructions on how to poison someone with ricin and how to make it. The ingredients, including castor beans, and other implements needed to make the poison were on the counter with the instructions.

The reason for Layman resorting to such extreme measures may be due to a visit she made with her 13-year-old daughter to Israel in 2014. The ex-husband went to a rabbinical court to obtain visitation rights. His court filings prevented their daughter from leaving the country. Only after Layman started a GoFundMe page to gain support was the child allowed to return to the United States. A domestic intelligence service was able to determine the intended target was Shahar Abecassis.
