Anthony Scaramucci

Summary: Another White House staffer has left their position as major changes are taking place within the chaotic administration.

The replacements keep coming within the White House. After ousting Chief of Staff Reince Priebus last week to be replaced with John Kelly, the communications director was the next to go. Anthony Scaramucci was stepped down from his position Monday.

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said, “Anthony Scaramucci will be leaving his role as White House Communications Director. Mr. Scaramucci felt it was best to give chief of staff John Kelly a clean state and the ability to build his own team. We wish him all the best.”

After Scaramucci made comments to a reporter at The New York magazine that was filled with strong words about Priebus, he found it hard to handle the aftermath of that interview. After he attended the Oval Office swearing-in ceremony for Kelly, Scaramucci was asked to leave. Kelly was the one tasked with delivering the message to Scaramucci, his first act as chief of staff.

One source said of Scaramucci, “He had no plans to resign before that. He thought he could fix it.” However, Kelly felt that Scaramucci had lost credibility and was not disciplined enough to continue on in his role with the administration.

Sanders further explained, “Gen. Kelly has the full authority to operate within the White House, and all staff will report to him.” She was asked if this included staffers like Ivanka Trump, Jared Kushner, and Steve Bannon. Sanders emphasized, “That includes everybody at the White House.”

Scaramucci was brought into the Administration during the last shake up of White House staffers. He is the third communications director since Trump took office. He took over in late May when the position was left vacant by Mike Dubke, who left after three months on the job. Former White House press secretary Sean Spicer took on many of the responsibilities when Dubke left. Eventually, Spicer resigned when Scaramucci was hired for the position.

The New Yorker reporter and CNN contributor Ryan Lizza claimed that Scaramucci was having dinner with Fox News host Sean Hannity and former Fox News executive Bill Shine. When Scaramucci learned about this claim, he confronted Lizza, demanding his source. Scaramucci suspected Priebus was the source, unleashing a tirade of remarks about the former chief of staff.

Scaramucci told Lizza, “Reince is a f***ing paranoid schizophrenic, a paranoiac” He then proceeded to mimic Priebus, “Let me leak the f***ing thing and see if I can c**k block these people the way I c**k blocked Scaramucxi for six months.” Scaramucci didn’t stop there in his rant to Lizza. He went on to mock longtime Trump adviser Steve Bannon. “I’m not Steve Bannon, I’m not trying to suck my own c**k,” he said.

Sanders said, “The President certainly felt that Anthony’s comments were inappropriate for someone in that position and he didn’t want to burden Gen. Kelly also with that line of succession.”

Other recent departures include former White House deputy chief of staff Katie Walsh, who left in March and assistant press secretary Michael Short, who left earlier this month.
