Summary: Actress and one of the many Harvey Weinstein accusers, Rose McGowan, has an arrest warrant out for her for a drug possession charge.

The police department’s announcement stated, “On February 1, 2017, the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Police Department obtained an arrest warrant for Rose McGowan, an actress from Encino, California, for possession of a controlled substance. The felony charge stems from a police investigation of personal belongings that tested positive for narcotics and were left behind on United flight 653 arriving at Washington Dulles International Airport on January 20, 2017.”

The authorities explained that they have been trying to get ahold of her so she can take care of things at court. The statement continued, “Since obtaining the warrant in February, Airports Authority police have attempted to contact Ms. McGowan so she can appear in a Loudoun County, Virginia, court to respond to the charge. The arrest warrant was also entered into a national law enforcement database.”

McGowan has been an outspoken advocate for female rights, leading speeches and protests. It is unclear of when she learned of the attacks but she tweeted loud and clear on Monday about the arrest warrant. She posted, “Are they trying to silence me. There is a warrant out for my arrest in Virginia. What a load of HORSE**T.”

McGowan’s latest focus is on Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein. She is one of the most high-profile accusers in the Hollywood scandal. Over 60 women have stepped forward accusing him of sexual harassment, assault, and rape.

During a speech at the Women’s Convention in Detroit, Michigan, McGowan talked about her rape allegation against Weinstein. She said she wanted “to be a voice for all of us who’ve been told we are nothing.” She added, “I have been silenced for 20 years. I have been slum shamed, I’ve been harassed. I’ve been maligned. And you know what, I’m just like you.”

Weinstein denies “any allegations of non-consensual sex.” The claims by women are now going back to the 70s. One lawsuit so far has been filed against his company, The Weinstein Company, in relation to the allegations. Attorney Gloria Allred has been leading the way for several of his accusers.

With the guidance of Allred, the latest accuser met with the press on Wednesday. Actress Natassia Malthe said, “Things need to change. Actresses should not have to demean themselves to be successful…I had experienced sexual harassment from other powerful men in Hollywood, but my experiences with Harvey were the worst. Hollywood men should not be allowed to force women to gratify them sexually in order to get ahead.”

Allred is trying to get his company to create a trust fund for the accusers but so far the executives have been unwilling to meet with her. She said, “It is time for the Weinstein Company to put their money where their mouths are. It is easy to weep crocodile tears for Harvey’s victims and talk about wanting justice, but that is not enough. Action and concrete steps are needed.”

Some of his accusers are not alleging that crimes took place but are instead upset that his company knew of the allegations of sexual harassment. The lawsuit states that the Weinstein Co. “condoned and enabled Weinstein’s sexual misconduct with young women,” fully aware of nondisclosure agreements and confidential settlements with his accusers.

Do you think Weinstein’s company should be held accountable for their role in helping Weinstein get away with sexual harassment? Share your thoughts with us in the comments below.
