Summary: James Packer may give his ex Mariah Carey $5 to $10 million for their broken engagement.

While some men end up paying big time during a divorce, billionaire James Packer has to pay for a messy breakup. According to The Blast, Packer and Mariah Carey have reached a multi-million dollar settlement to their engagement split and she also gets to keep the 35-carat engagement ring.

The Blast said that Carey, 47, and Packer, 50, settled a few weeks ago, and although Carey will make away with millions, she won’t get her original ask of $50 million.

Carey and Packer met in 2014 at a movie premiere, and in January 2016, the billionaire popped the question, giving the songstress a ring that was reportedly worth $10 million but was actually found to be worth less than that. In October 2016, PEOPLE confirmed that the couple had split weeks before, and since then, the two had been fighting bitterly.

“I was at a low point in my personal life,” Packer told The Australian of the breakup. “She was kind, exciting and fun. Mariah is a woman of substance. But it was a mistake for her and a mistake for me.”

Carey relocated to Los Angeles to be with Packer, and she wanted him to c0mpensate her for her time. Although the diva is not as rich as her ex, her net worth isn’t shabby by any means. According to The Richest, she is worth an estimated $535 million, and her Christmas hit “All I want for Christmas” generates almost $400,000 a year for her in royalties.

James Packer is an Australian businessman. He is the former executive chairman of Publishing and Broadcasting Limited and Consolidated Media Holdings and a major shareholder in Crown resorts.

Carey and Packer have both been married twice before. Carey was wed to music producer Tommy Mottola early in her career, and in 2008, she wed Nick Cannon. She and Cannon had two children and split in 2015.

“I never thought I would have babies with someone and then get divorced. Like, ‘Oh, great job. Repeat your past,'” Carey told Complex in 2016 about her divorce from Cannon. “But life happens. And it was supposed to happen. It’s fine. For them, I wish it hadn’t happened that way.”

This year, Carey and Cannon were rumored to have rekindled their relationship, but that union has also fallen apart.
