Summary: An Arizona couple running from the cops headed towards a nearby police station.

An Arizona couple was on the run, but where they ran to wasn’t the smartest choice. In fact, it was probably the worst choice any possible criminal could make.

What
Where

According to Fox News, the fleeing duo ran to the grounds of a police precinct, where they were promptly arrested by officers and where they will probably be remembered as the dumbest criminals of all time.

Arizona natives, Marwan Al Ebadi, 28, and Salma Hourieh, 29, were trying to evade police on February 16 after officers approached a suspicious-looking car at a gas station, according to Peoria, Arizona police. When the cops neared, the couple fled from the gas station and ran toward the front door of a nearby police station.

Peoria Police said that their precinct has a very large sign that reads “Peoria Police,” which the runaway couple strangely did not see.

The police told Fox News that at first the couple ran towards the building, but then they changed strategy and hopped a fence inside to a secure area where several police officers were training. Realizing their mistake, the couple jumped over the fence again and zoomed towards the road. They decided running wasn’t getting them anywhere so they hid under a park bench, where they were promptly arrested.

The Peoria Police said that Al Ebadi and Hourieh are facing several charges, including shoplifting, trespassing, and drug charges.

The police said that this story should be a reminder to potential criminals to not only not run away from police but to also not run towards them either.

“This incident serves as a reminder that you should never run from the police and, if you do, do not run into a secure parking lot of a police station,” spokesman Brandon Sheffert wrote in an email to the TV station, KTAR.
