University of Arkansas Law Finds New Dean

The University of Arkansas School of Law announced the appointment Margaret Sova McCabe as the new dean of the school starting July 1. McCabe is currently a law professor at the University of New Hampshire School of Law, according to the Arkansas Times.

McCabe was selected after the law school conducted a national search. She will be the law school’s 13^th dean since it was founded in 1924. She is also the third consecutive female dean of the law school, making U of A the second law school in the country to have this distinction.

Provost Jim Coleman said in the law school’s statement, “She is a nationally recognized expert in food and agriculture law and policy, a highly regarded classroom teacher and an effective administrator with a proven track record.”

McCabe is taking over for Stacy Leeds, who has been the dean since 2011. Leeds was made the interim vice chancellor for economic development in 2017 and will now take over the position in a permanent role.
