2009 was a bad year for the economy and the legal sector took its share of licks, but there are success stories as well. Hughes Hubbard & Reed had a 10% increase in gross revenues in 2009, from $251.8 million to $277 million. Profits per partner jumped by 9.7%, from $1.34 to $1.47 million. Associates also did well, earning above market bonuses and getting salaries restored to pre thaw levels.
The strong earnings were led by work done for Lehman Brothers during its liquidation and and strong year for its product liability practice.
Hughes Hubbard & Reed LLP, an international law firm based in New York, is ranked number one in New York and number two nationally on The American Lawyer’s A-List of the “top firms among the nation’s legal elite.” AmLaw also ranked the firm #4 in “Top Growth Firms” among the nation’s 200 largest firms over the last 10 years.
