Tim Carson was a non-equity partner at Saul Ewing until January 1Â of this year, and he was also a vice chairman of the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission until this past Monday.
His resignation from the PTC comes after a newspaper began digging into his past and uncovered two DUI arrests that happened while Carson was driving state owned vehicles. In his resignation letter to Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell, Carson acknowledge a problem with alcohol dependency but says that he has maintained sobriety since the second DUI in 2006.
Carson says that his reasons for leaving Saul Ewing are unrelated to the DUI’s, citing an inability to come to acceptable terms with the firm on compensation. For its part, Saul Ewing told The American Lawyer “Tim Carson has not been affiliated with Saul Ewing since January 1, 2010. We value his many years of service with the firm and our thoughts are with him during this difficult time”.
