Douglas A. Axel, a former assistant United States Attorney in the central district of California, has joined Sidley Austin’s Los Angeles office as a partner.
Axel had been with the U.S. Attorney’s office since 2001. While there he served as chief of its major frauds section, where he was responsible for all federal white-collar crime prosecutions in Los Angeles, Ventura and Santa Barbara counties.
Prior to serving as chief of the section, Axel served as a deputy chief for two years.
Sidley’s Los Angeles office was established in 1980 and has more than 140 lawyers. Overall, the firm boasts approximately 1,700 lawyers practicing in 17 cities around the world.
