The Los Angeles City Attorney is attempting to shut down 21 medicinal cannabis dispensaries. The shops have made a vow to legally fight back against claims that the shops are ‘nuisances.’
A statement from Americans for Safe Access called the city’s undercover purchases entrapment, and may join the lawsuit “as an intervening defendant, representing the interests of medical marijuana patients.”
ASA points out that recent changes to city ordinances are being held over the heads of these pot shops before the ordinances have even gone into effect. They aren’t even giving the shops a chance to come into compliance.
“It’s clear that the City Attorney is attempting to intimidate and close dispensaries before the Los Angeles ordinance even goes into effect,” said Joe Elford, ASA Chief Counsel. ” … It goes without saying that dispensaries deserve the due process right to comply with the city’s ordinance regulating them.”
