Former U.S. Senators John Breaux and Trent Lott are in talks with Patton Boggs to formally “join forces” and combine their law and lobbying resources. Rumors of a deal have circulated for several months now. Breaux and Patton Boggs both declined to comment on these talks according to law.com.
Breaux and Lott formed the lobbying firm Breaux Lott Leadership Group in 2008 after Lott left the Senate. Breaux Lott Leadership counts among its clients General Electric, the Financial Services Roundtable, Shell Oil and AT&T. Breaux left the Senate in 2005 and until 2008 worked at Patton Boggs. He has maintained his connection with the firm and both Senators are already special public policy advisers to the firm. Breaux has a long relationship with name partner Tommy Boggs.
