The Labor Department has begun signing agreements to share information on businesses that cheat the workers out of the wages with States and Internal Revenue Service. More than dozen states including Washington and Hawaii have signed the agreement that would empower labor department to seek fines and penalties on federal wage violations. Labor Department is focusing on industries which are engaged in wage theft by improperly labeling workers as independent contractors or as non employees, thereby, depriving workers on minimum wage and overtime.
